The "Sonnapalooza" fundraising event was held on July 16 at the Daviess County Country Club. A large crowd attended in support of the late Sonna Walker and her family. The extremely warm temperatures were at times nearly unbearable, however the many volunteers and attendees were committed to making it a successful day. The baby Show and talent Show were both well attended.

Winners of the adult washers tournament were Lance Rains and Kenny Youtsey, who defeated Jackie and Doug Nichols by a large margin. The kids division of the washers tournament was won by Jarod Rains and Ethan Johnston. The winner of the $1,000 raffle was Theresa Hamilton of Gallatin.
There were over 30 donations of fabulous desserts for the dessert auction which by itself made $2,700. The Gallatin Men’s Club served a delicious fish dinner with help from the Learn and Do Club and netted over $1,300. The day ended with an entertaining outdoor show by the Grand River Opry, and a final auction of donated items. The entire event raised over $11,000 dollars to help the family pay funeral costs and medical expenses.
The Sonnapalooza planning committee along with Sonna’s family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to everyone that helped in any way. We were all sure Sonna was watching over us that day (probably singing and dancing) and we only wish she could have been with us to enjoy the amazing generosity of our wonderful community.
