Changes in the law since January have made it possible for more Medicare beneficiaries to qualify. Income guidelines have been adjusted, with some things no longer counting as resources and income. However, many senior citizens are unaware of the new changes and therefore have failed to try and apply for this program.

Applying for the program costs no money to the Medicare beneficiaries. Aging Resource Consultant Vera Nelson at the Active Aging Resource Center in Gallatin can assist the beneficiary to apply online in her office. If the Medicare beneficiary qualifies some or even all of their Part D Prescription Drug Plan may be subsidized by the federal government.

Another program not well know by the seniors in the State of Missouri is the MO Rx plan. Many Medicare beneficiaries are unaware of this program which can assist in paying for half of the beneficiaries co-pay on their monthly prescription plan covered under their Part D policy.

Seniors are encourage to contact the AARC, formerly the senior center, in Gallatin at 660-633-2828 or toll free at 1-866-587-2272, and talk to Nelson or Administrator Deanna Lewis to see if they would qualify.

If in doubt, let us fill out the paperwork for you and find out if you quality.
