Sheriff’s Office
A counterfeit $20 bill was reported by BTC Bank on July 14. The bill was identified as a suspect bill by the counting machine. Further inspection revealed that it did not contain the inscribed security thread, color shifting ink or water. The bill remained in the bank’s possession to be forwarded to the FBI. The bill was found in the deposit of the Seventh-day Adventist Church Thrift Store.
Tom Pendleton of Lake Viking reported to Lake Viking Security that bait pumps were taken between July 2-3, and a battery between July 10-15, from his pontoon boat at a rental dock. The items are valued at $140.
Steven Grooms reported July 23 that an ATV had been stolen from a shed behind his residence on Zane Avenue sometime between July 20 and July 23. The ATV was a 2005 Honda Fourtax Rancher model.
Christian Crossley, 27, St. Joseph, was arrested July 24 for DWI. He posted $750 bond.
County Commission
Pam Howard, circuit clerk, met with the commission regarding the inefficiency of the air conditioner in the circuit courtroom. Bids will be taken for an additional or larger replacement unit.
Vic Litton, Lock Springs, met with the commission regarding a legal notice for the public water district. Randy Railsback, Green Hills Regional Planning Commission, was contacted for explanation.
The commission reviewed the revenue and expense reports comparing this year to the last fiscal year. Bills were audited and paid.
Denise Caven, LEPC, met with the commission regarding emergency planning.
Dave Allen, road department, met with the commission regarding the locations scheduled for brush removal. He will inspect the sites in Jefferson and Liberty Townships for estimates.
Bob Burnett, Snyder and Associates, met with the commission with final construction invoices on BRO 31 project in Grand River Township. He will submit these to MoDOT for payment.
Todd Watson, deputy sheriff, met with the commission regarding the USDA grant application for a vehicle in 2012. The commissioners asked for more information on specifications.
James Lewis, bridge supervisor, reported that they will be working in Lincoln and Colfax Townships this week.
In the afternoon, the commission inspected brush along roads in Washington, Grand River, Sheridan and Liberty Townships. Certified letters for removal of the brush will be sent to some landowners.
These are the unapproved minutes of July 25, 2011. Randy Sims and David Cox were present. Minutes of the last meeting were approved. Carl Carder was also in attendance.
Circuit Court
Before Judge Thomas Chapman on July 20, dissolutions of marriage were granted to Leah Kathleen Persinger from Micheal James Persinger; to John Allen Helm from Kyna Sue Helm; to Vaughan J. Oyler from Jacoy L. Oyler; to John C. Agenstein from Rita S. Agenstein; to Julie F. Gray from Jeffrey A. Gray; and to Gina R. Saunders from Gregory J. Oberfoell.
Travis W. Evans plead guilty to aiding escape of prisoner confined for felony, class B felony. Two like charges were dismissed. He was sentenced to five years in the Department of Corrections, consecutive to all other sentences. Evans was an accomplice in the escape of three inmates from the regional jail in October 2010. He was also involved in an attempted escape from the regional jail last June.

Michelle Harding, Trenton, was charged July 19 with a felony count of passing bad checks.
