A private family graveside service for Freda Akerson will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26. Family visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 25. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from noon to 9 p.m. Arrangements were by Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Freda J. Akerson, 63, Chillicothe, died Friday, July 22, 2011, in Chillicothe.
Freda was born in Sentinel, Okla., on Jan. 16, 1948, the daughter of Tommie and Bertha Laverne (Pate) Dempsey. She was a 1966 graduate of Cordell High School, Cordell, Okla.
On June 17, 1966, she was united in marriage to Roy W. Akerson in Cordell, Okla. They moved to Chillicothe in 1967.
She worked for 30 years as a chiropractic assistant and secretary to Dr. Frank Stark. She was also a part-time sales clerk for Sensenich Jewelry.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Chillicothe.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, and an infant sister.
Survivors include her husband Roy of the home; daughters, Tonia Lynn Akerson of Chillicothe, Tammy Widner of Gallatin; sisters, Joyce Ann Swanda and Kathy Ann Yandell, both of Carnegie, Okla; and four grandchildren.
