Seven members of the Gallatin High School FBLA chapter represented the state of Missouri at the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla., June 28-July 1. The students who attended and their respective competitive event are as follows: Bailey Bozarth – Job Interview; Bailey Morrison – Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure; Michael Youd and Chaz Green – Parliamentary Procedures; and Len Deutschman, Taylor Sheldon, and Kaymon Witt – Business Plan Project. GHS FBLA members were accompanied by local chapter adviser, Barb Holcomb.
The competition is part of a competitive events program sponsored annually by FBLA-PBL, a professional association for students pursuing business careers. Individuals, local chapters, and state teams compete in over 50 events representing a range of business, career, and leadership development activities. The winners of these challenging and prestigious awards are selected from FBLA-PBL’s over 210,000 members, and have won regional and state competitions to qualify for the national awards program. The 8300 delegates to the 59th annual conference elected national student officers and attended business and leadership workshops in addition to competing in business and career skill events.
While in Orlando, GHS students had the opportunity to visit many popular sites of the city. The theme parks that FBLA members visited were Disney World, Epcot, Universal Studio’s Islands of Adventure, and Sea World. Members also had the unique opportunity to soar high while indoor skydiving at iFly Orlando!
This year’s national theme, "FBLA-PBL: Breaking Barriers!" reflects the goals of FBLA-PBL members, some of the best and the brightest of today’s young people.
