Funeral services for Sonna Walker, 56, Gallatin, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 8, at the First Christian Church in Gallatin. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday at McWilliams Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital or the Gallatin Theatre League Seat Program.

Sonna Lee Walker 56, Gallatin, died Tuesday July 5, 2011, at the Daviess County Nursing & Rehab in Gallatin.

Sonna was born Nov. 12, 1954, to Delbert and Sonya (Landes) Wilson in Jamesport. She grew up in Breckenridge and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1973.

Sonna was united in marriage to Jim Walker March 29, 1974, at the Breckenridge Methodist Church. Jim preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1992, after 18 years of marriage. The couple moved to Gallatin where they lived all of their lives and became part of the community. To this union one child was born, Tonya.

Sonna was a stay at home mother until Tonya was older, and she started to work as a cook at the Gallatin School and the nursing home for several years. She later took a part time job at Landmark Manufacturing and soon became full time and was employed there for 17 years.

Sonna was a member of the First Christian Church in Gallatin. She was an over 26 year active member of the Gallatin Theater League. Sonna was a member of the Learn and Do Extension Club, Sweet Adeline’s and was well known around the area performing with the "Girl Friends". Sonna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, sister Johna Wilson and brother Scott Wilson.

Survivors include one daughter, Tonya Sloan of Gallatin; one sister, Jackie Nichols of Gallatin; and two grandchildren.
