City Administrator Zac Johnson is currently working on a grant to get recycling tubs for every resident in Gallatin.
He discussed the new trash contract with the Gallatin Board of Aldermen during their regular meeting held June 27. Thursday trash pick up may be changing to Wednesday starting in August. The city will place a notice in the newspaper if that change does occurs.
Police Chief Mark Richards submitted a report on activity from June 13-27 with the following reports taken and tickets given: three peace disturbances, two trespassing, one animal abuse, two assist P&P, one domestic. There are nine dogs in the pound.
Chief Richards said several limbs fell during the storm June 26 but there were no major problems. He stated that he is taking some time off and Tony Kirkendoll will oversee things while he is away.
Street Supervisor Teddy Holcomb stated that city crews have been pulling ditches and will be getting ready to fill potholes on the west side of town. Because of storm debris, crews will be picking up brush again this Friday, July 1.
Bills in the amount of $45,253,48 were approved for payment.
Discussion was held on the need for a new phone system in city hall and the LMI survey for the water plant project.
Scott Stephens, city auditor, presented the 2010 audit to the board.
Discussion was held on a lot that has an outstanding assessment against the property by the city.
Comments were made by aldermen regarding workman’s compensation.
The board entered into closed session pursuant to legal actions and litigation.
