Another day has come and how thankful I am. Every morning when I wake up I thank the Lord that I have lived another day and that Kathy and I have had over 68 years together.

I like to think of an article I have which I look at quite often. Today I will delay from my personal journal two days: yesterday and tomorrow. Yesterday was to learn from and tomorrow – well that will be the consequence of what I can do today.

Today I will face life with the sure knowledge that this day will never return. Today is the last opportunity I have to live intensely, as no one can assure me that I will see tomorrow’s sunrise.

Today I will be brave enough not to let any opportunity pass me by. My only alternative is to succeed. Today I will invest my most valuable resource: My time in the most transcendental work: My lfe.

Today I will spend each minute passionately, to make today a different and unique day in my life. Today I will defy every obstacle that appears on trusting I will succeed.

Today I will resist pessimism, and will conquer the world with a smile and a positive attitude of always expecting the best. Today I will make of every ordinary task a sublime expression. Today I will have my feet on the ground understanding reality and the stars’ gaze, and thus will invent the future.

Today I will take time to be happy and leave my footprints and my presence in the hearts of others, not just the sands of time. Today I invite you to begin a new season where we can dream that everything we undertake is possible and fulfill that dream, with joy and dignity.

Today, why not perform a random act of kindness? And if there are those that you love tell them, you don’t know when it might be your last opportunity.

Today I am considered an old man and a week from today I will even be older when I celebrate my 93rd birthday. God willing!

And not just for today, but for several days to come, let’s think of Independence Day. It was on this day, July 4, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was signed by John Hancock, the Chairman of the Continental Congress and the Secretary of Congress, making it legal. Both Presidents John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were on the committee to draft the declaration. Jefferson was chosen to do the first draft. Both presidents, who were also good friends, died on the same day, July 4, 1826.

The Declaration of Independence is the only government document in world history that is a statement of Bible-based ideals. The closing one is “With a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our Sacred Honor. “
