The Gallatin Theatre League’s project to upgrade the seats and flooring in the Courter Theater began in January of this year.
The new design will have 250 seats, wider aisles, more leg-room and four wheelchair accessible platforms. The plan also includes refinishing the floor and a wider entryway. Through the new Patron Program, 157 seats have been donated to date, leaving 93 seats, or $13,950, short of the needed amount.
Additional donations are urgently needed for the completion of this renovation by the fall play. A contribution of $150 will replace one seat, and allow the contributor to have their name or business name engraved on a seat plaque.
"We are asking everyone to please consider making a donation of any size, to help us with this major project", stated GTL President Elaine Bohannon.
The league will also be offering the old theatre seats for sale at $10 each, if you are interested in purchasing a piece of theater history. They will be removing old seats from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, if you want to come by and purchase an old theater seat, or an entire row of seats.
