According to Daviess County Clerk Linda Steward, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon will appoint a replacement for Daviess County Commissioner Danny Heldenbrand, who passed away on May 31. The Governor has been notified of the situation, and the clerk is awaiting instructions on the procedure to make the replacement.

Persons are interested in the position may apply to the Daviess County Democratic Committee or the Daviess County Republican Committee. Eligible persons must reside in District 2, which is made up of the following townships: Jefferson, Union, Sheridan, Monroe, Harrison and Colfax.
Committees generally forward their first choice and an alternate to the governor. Usually, the Governor will choose the replacement from the names submitted by the two parties. Typically the appointment will be made within 30 days.
