A memorial service was held Monday, May 23, in the Wesley Chapel at the Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, Kan. Arrangements were by Park Lawn Funeral Home.

Jewell (Nanny) Marie Blair, 84, Overland Park, Kan., died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at her home. Jewell, the daughter of Ned and Pearl Johnson, was born on Dec. 7, 1926, in Gallatin. She grew up in Gallatin, one of three siblings.

Jewell moved to Kansas City at 17, where she worked at the Weather Bureau during WWII and later, the Veteran’s Association.

She met and married Ben T. Blair on April 10, 1948. Shortly after, they settled in Independence, and raised one daughter, Lana. After raising Lana, Jewell returned to work as a manager at Hartzfeld’s and Woolf Brothers department stores.

She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church. After moving to Overland Park, Kan., seven years ago, she attended Church of the Resurrection.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben of 44 years; brother, Leonard (Bud) Johnson and sister, Catherine Young; and her son-in-law David Dusenberry.

Survivors include one daughter, Lana Kay Aber of Overland Park, Kan.; and two grandchildren.
