Floyd D. Gwinn, 91, Trenton, formerly of Jameson, passed away, May 17, 2011 in Trenton, Mo.
He was born Nov. 26, 1919 in Daviess County, Mo., the son of Harry H. and Goldie M. (Francis) Gwinn.
Floyd attended a country school through the sixth grade. He worked at assorted jobs until joining the Army. Floyd served in the military during World War II, June 9, 1942 to Dec. 3, 1945, with Company E 313rd Infantry, 79th Division as a cook. He was in the European Theater for 19 months. When he was discharged from the military he traveled across the country working for farmers to harvest crops for a year, he then returned and started farming on his own.
On Sept. 14, 1946, he married Rose Cox. Floyd worked for the Missouri Highway Department in Cameron for 11 years. In 1963 they moved to Jameson where they farmed and raised beef and dairy cattle until retiring in 1992 when they moved to Trenton.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rose on May 16, 1996; four brothers, Delbert, Walter, Raymond and Roy Lee.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana L. Rankin, Gilman City, and one grandson.
