After 30 years of work in the Highway Patrol including the last 20 in criminal investigation, Mike and his wife, Linda, began cattle operations with land purchases in 2001. Their cows are raised in stress-free environments without probiotics, hormones or steroids. They feed their cattle on a mix of crabgrass and alfalfa hay during the winter; they advertise their product on the internet, handing out business cards and by good old-fashioned word of mouth.

Mike is the son of Dixie Rogers and the late Bill Rogers of Jameson. His interest in the farm and cattle business stemmed from spending summer vacations on the Daviess County farm of his grandparents, Irven and Alice Skinner.
