My mouth fell open to a somewhat wider than normal position upon reading the May 4 article stating that it is illegal to sell wild mushrooms without individual government inspection and certification.

If I find any wild mushrooms for sale, I will inspect them myself and decide if I want to buy and eat them, thank you very much. If I call the Daviess County Health Department at 660-663-2414 as suggested, it will be to tell them that their government expert inspector has my permission to pound sand.

A small consolation of being as old as I am is that I can vaguely recall once living in a more or less free country.
