The dodgeball benefit held April 30 for Patrick McBroom went great, according to his mother Laura Hoyle.
There were "a ton of people" attending and 23 teams participated. The basket auction alone raised $2,900.
Brian and Kelly Walker hosted the event. Kelly said total contributions are still being tallied and that information along with pictures will appear in next week’s paper.
Laura said Patrick is a little sick this week and his white count is low, only 300, and they are keeping him isolated. After three weeks of radiation, his tumor has shrunk. Patrick must go back to the hospital on May 17 for two more weeks of radiation, then scans. He will get a week off to attend Camp Quality. He will then have surgery to remove part of the tumor, and start chemo again.
She said the doctors are taking an aggressive approach to his treatment and are very pleased with Patrick’s progress.
Laura and Patrick thank everybody for all their help.
