Daviess County Courthouse News (5-4-11)

Cheryl Alexander, LEPC Secretary, met with the commission submitting a copy of the revised bylaws.

Randy Sims and David Cox met with the Benton Township board members on April 27, inspecting roads and bridges in that township.

Steve Adkison met with the commission regarding the assessment on his personal property. He will appeal at the board of equalization.

Brian Teel met with the commission regarding a road in Marion Township. The commission will inspect this afternoon.

Billy Bob Breeden, Windstream, met with the commission regarding the location of telephone lines on Colfax Township.

Brenda Rauber, representing Sharon Hon of Sheridan Township, met with the commission regarding access to land in section 32 of that township. The commission will inspect.

The commission discussed dates for Board of Equalization, setting the beginning date for July 5.

Linda Houghton, public administrator, filed her certificate of training for 2011.

Daren Adkins, associate circuit judge, met with the commission regarding tasks for prisoners. They will continue to be brought to the courthouse.

James Lewis, Road and Bridge Supervisor, met with the Commission reporting that they will be completing work in Colfax Township this week.

Bills were audited and paid.

In the afternoon, the commissioners inspected roads in Marion, Colfax, and Sheridan Townships. James Lewis will calculate drainage at the Sheridan Township site. The township board will be contacted for ditching at the Marion site.

Due to the Truman Day holiday, the next meeting of the commission will be Tuesday, May 10.

Circuit Court

Civil cases filed: Certificates of lien, DOR, taxes, were filed by the State ex rel DOR against Paul Byler, Daniel F. Froman, Richard K. Argo, Charles and Christine Boren, Ronald and Angela Hogan, Charles and Geneva Hogan, and Perry Kurtz and Mary Kramer.

Associate Division

Eric M. Sill, Eagleville, was charged April 29 with felony passing bad checks.

Civil Court

Breach of contract: A consent judgment was entered for Capital One Bank and against Nika A. Dyson.

Small Claims: A change of venue was granted in Sara Berry vs. Scot Greer.

Marriage

Marc Edward Hollars and Debra Kay Simpson, both of St. Joseph, were married April 27 by Judge Daren L. Adkins.

Sheriff’s Office

Christopher Wilson, 29, Ft. Riley, Kan., was arrested May 1 for misdemeanor bad checks. Bond was set at $200.

Jeremiah Gibson, 25, Gallatin, was arrested May 1 for misdemeanor DWI. He was held for 12-hour detoxification, processed and released with a summons.

Kari Smith, 19, Jamesport, was arrested April 30 for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She was held 24 hours, processed and released with a summons.

Andrew Fairhurst, 25, Trenton, was arrested April 30 for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held for 24 hours, processed and released with a summons.

Pedro R. Sanchez, 42, St. Joseph, was arrested May 2 for failure to appear on an original misdemeanor charge of no valid license. He posted $600 bond.
