Gallatin’s all-freshman girls 4×800-meter relay team won for the fourth time in six races on Monday, capturing the Grand River Conference title with a season-best effort that comes on the heels of district competition.
Class 2, District 8 competition begins with field events at 11 a.m. Saturday at LeBlond High School in St. Joseph. Running prelims start at 1 p.m. The girls and boys 4×800-meter relay competitions begin at 12:15. Other race finals kick off at 1:30.
The Lady Bulldog 4×800 relay team, composed of Bailey Morrison, Kailey Elbert, Kaitlyn McNeely and Kaitlyn Hefley, ran 10:58.53 in Monday’s conference meet at South Harrison High School to hold off second-place Hamilton by nearly 11 seconds. The quartet previously won races at Stanberry, Albany and home at the Daviess County Relays.
