Gallatin varsity golfers met the halfway point of the spring season with a busy week, despite less than perfect weather at Daviess County Country Club.

The Bulldogs hosted Mid-Buchanan Tuesday in what was scheduled as a four-team meet along with no-shows Albany and Norborne. The Dragons shot 189 to best the host team’s total of 219, but the Bulldogs showed consistent scores.

Jim Willet paced Gallatin with a 52, followed by Logan Henderson 53, Chris Cameron and Zack Lollar with rounds of 57, Wes Cole 58 and Tyler Carder 60.

GHS golfers finished second in their latest outing, a four-team meet held at Hamilton’s Lake View Golf Course. Hamilton won the event with a team score 167, followed by Gallatin 208, Plattsburg 210 and Lathrop 231.

Hamilton’s Matt Schieber claimed the medalist honor with a 36, followed by teammate Shawn Cook with a 42.

Bulldog scores included Henderson 48, Willet 49, Lollar 53, Cole 58, Cameron 59 and Carder 61.

The Bulldogs finished seventh of 12 teams by shooting a combined 287 at last Thursday’s Plattsburg Tournament. Willet shot 92 over 18 holes in individual play, good enough for seventh place. Henderson and Carder combined for 103 for an eighth place finish in best ball play. Cole and Lollar teamed up for a 92 in scramble action.

Gallatin finished 14th overall on Wednesday of last week in the Cameron Tournament. Henderson led GHS golfers with a 98, followed by Cole 101, Willet 107, Chris Cameron 109 and Lollar 123.

The Bulldogs placed second in a quad match held April 12 at DCCC. Gallatin golfers shot 190 to trail only Plattsburg with 180. Lathrop (208) and Princeton (210) also participated.

Cole’s round of 47 was nine shots off the medalist pace set by Plattsburg’s Rikki Ramirez. Willet followed for Gallatin with a 48. Carder shot 50. Henderson and Lollar each shot 51. Bo Malo chipped in with a round of 55.

The Bulldogs travel to Bethany next Monday for the GRC Tournament. The conference jayvee tourney will be next Tuesday in Stanberry.
