Students from the Gallatin FFA Chapter recently competed in the Northwest District Career Development Events (CDE’s) on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. The curriculum based CDE’s allow students to test the knowledge and skills that they have learned in their Agriculture courses in a hands on competitive environment.

The students compete against all 54 schools in Northwest Missouri who offer agriculture education classes in their high schools and technical schools regardless of school size or classification. Teams who perform well enough in their respective events earn the opportunity to then compete at the state level against teams from across the state.
This year the Gallatin FFA Chapter entered nine teams in district competition, and the following is a list of state qualifying teams and results from non-qualifying teams from this year’s competition.
Agronomy: 1st Place District Champions State Qualifier: Robbie Carder, 1st High Individual in the contest; Isaac Mattis, 4th High Individual in the contest; Garrett McNeely, 10th High Individual in the contest; Mitchell Vanderslice, Entomology: 2nd Place Team State Qualifier; Megan Beck, 3rd High Individual in the contest; Joey Flanders, 4th High Individual in the contest; Beth Huffman, 9th High Individual in the contest; Marissa McNeely, 15th High Individual in the contest.
Dairy Cattle: 4th Place Team State Qualifier: Derrick Baldwin, Christopher Cameron, Molly Mott, Breanne Brammer, 3rd High Individual in the contest.
Forestry: 5th Place Team State Qualifier: Brittney Cline, 8th High Individual in the contest, Kaley Cox, Mary King, Krystina Wood.
Horses: 5th Place Team State Qualifier: Kirby Crouse, Carlye Guffy, Melinda Hess, 7th High Individual in the contest, Grace Von Opitz.
Poultry: 6th Place Team State Qualifier: Blake Cornett, Dexter Daniel, Emily McAfee, Alyison Widner.

Floriculture: 11th Place Team Alternate to State: Kelsey Bird, Len Deutschman, Rebecca Mott, Danielle Ness.
Ag Mechanics: 17th Place Team: B.J. Johnson, Riley Vanatta.
