Funds were through America’s Farmers Grow CommunitiesSM Program

Gregory Macy of Gallatin was recently selected as a winner in America’s Farmers Grow CommunitiesSM program, which gives farmers the opportunity to win $2,500 for their favorite local nonprofit organizations. The donations are available through the Monsanto Fund. Macy designated Gallatin Active Aging Resource Center, located in Gallatin, to receive the award in Daviess County.

Macy said he is very excited to have been selected as the winner for Daviess County. "I think the Grow Communities program is very worthwhile."

Deanna Lewis, Gallatin Active Aging Resource Center Administrator, said, "Our center is truly honored to be the recipient of this award. In these financially difficult times, it is a blessing that programs like Monsanto Fund’s Grow Communities support organizations such as our center. The number of lives that will be touched by this donation are immense. We will use this award to enrich the lives of our older adult meal recipients, which in turn will enrich their families and caregivers’ lives. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for aiding our seniors."

In more than 1,200 eligible counties, farmers can win $2,500 for their favorite community non-profit. The Monsanto Fund expects to invest more than $3 million in local communities.

America’s Farmers Grow Communities is part of a broad commitment by the Monsanto Fund to highlight the important contributions farmers make every day to our society by helping them grow their local communities. To date, more than 60,000 farmers participated in the program, which is designed to benefit nonprofit groups such as ag youth, schools and other civic organizations.
