Funeral services for Donald Hughes will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 18, at the Jamesport Baptist Church. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at the church. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday at McWilliams Funeral Home in Jamesport. Burial will be at Brassfield Cemetery, near Chillicothe. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donald Hughes Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Donald W. Hughes, 74, Jamesport, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Indian Hills Nursing Home in Chillicothe.

Donald was born Dec. 6, 1936, to Lowell and Ollie (Gibbons) Hughes on a farm in rural Livingston County where he attended Potter Country School.

Donald was united in marriage to Shirley Ailor June 16, 1957, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church near Spring Hill.

The couple moved to a farm where they raised crops, cattle and hogs, later buying a farm of their own. Donald and Shirley retired and moved to Jamesport where they have lived for the past 26 years. Donald also drove for the Amish.

Donald was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother and infant sister.

Donald is survived by his wife of 53 years Shirley, of the home, sons, Tonie Hughes of Branson, Terry Hughes of Corpus Christi, Texas, Martie Hughes of Bryan, Texas, and Todd Hughes of Baldwin City, Kan., 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
