Funeral services for August Meseberg were held Monday, March 14, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial was at the Mt. Ayr Cemetery near Altamont. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin Senior Citizens and/or the Mt Ayr Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

August Meseberg, 64, formerly of Altamont, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Daviess County Nursing and Rehab Center in Gallatin.

August was born Aug. 9, 1946, to Orville and Margaret (Schoonover) Meseberg on a farm south of Altamont. He attended school in Altamont and graduated from Gallatin High School in 1965. He was drafted into the Navy in March of 1966, where he served for one year.

After leaving the service August was employed at the Standard Oil Company and the True Blood Oil in Cameron for several years where he delivered fuel all over the area. He also worked as a mechanic at Wilson’s Garage in Altamont.

August was united in marriage to Anita Darlene Bowers May 12, 1968, in Cameron, to this union three children were born, Michael, Steven and Kristie.

August was employed with the Missouri Department of Transportation in Gallatin retiring after 14 years of dedicated service.

August was a member of the RLDS Church in Cameron. He also volunteered with the KAW Fire Department in Winston for many years.

August was preceded in death by his father Orville Meseberg.

Other survivors include three children, Kristie Smith of Gallatin, Steven Meseberg of Cameron, and Michael Meseberg of Kansas City; his mother Margaret Meseberg of Jameson; two brothers, Arthur Meseberg of Woodbridge, Va., and Anthony Meseberg of Liberty; three sisters, Barbara Hewitt of Brookneal, Va., Vivian Toellner of Hilo, Hawaii, and, Donna Cline of Gallatin; and seven grandchildren.
