Ben Becerra, sheriff, met with the commission regarding funds received from the City of Cameron for assistance during a hazardous material spill in September, 2010. David Cox moved that the funds be used to pay overtime costs for the deputies through the fund set up for that purpose. Randy Sims seconded. Cox – yes; Heldenbrand – yes; Sims – yes.

Mike Johnson, Winston Speedway owner, met with the commission regarding access to the properties west of the track. He was informed that it is a private driveway according to the records. If the township will accept it as a public road and it is brought up to specifications by the landowners, it may be placed on the CART program.

James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, reported that they will continue to pour concrete this week for back-walls and flooring.

Bills were audited and paid.

Sheriff’s Office

Steven Long, 54, Blue Springs, was charged March 1 with damage to jail property, a class D felony. Long is accused of ripping his orange, jail-issued pants into pieces on Feb. 24. Long is incarcerated at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail. Bond on this charge was set at $5,000.

Kirby James Piper of Winston reported the theft of $2,500 from his residence on March 3. The theft occurred between 2 and 5 p.m. on March 2. The back door entrance to the single-wide mobile home had been pried open, destroying the door.

Tim Palmer, 44, Gallatin was arrested March 1 for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge of no valid license. Bond was set at $600.

Jay Fitzsimmons, 46, Albany, was arrested March 2 for a bond violation on an original felony charge of DWI. Bond was set at $35,000.

John Rhoads, 34, Hamilton, was arrested March 2 for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge of no valid license. Bond was set at $2,000.

Sandra Kriegel, 49, Fort Worth, Texas, was arrested March 2 on a probation violation for felony theft. Bond was set at $4,000.

Troy Lockwood, 46, Liberty, was arrested March 4 for misdemeanor DWI. He was processed and released after 24 hours.

Virgil Souders, 58, Jamesport, was arrested March 6 for misdemeanor DWI. He was processed and released after 12 hours.

Terry Ragan, 41, Kansas City, was arrested March 6 for felony DWI, misdemeanor no valid license, and misdemeanor failure to drive on right half of roadway. He is being held on $35,000 bond.

Dustin Hartman, 31, Cameron, was arrested March 4 for misdemeanor passing bad checks. He posted $350 bond.
