Tom L. Cummings, 72, of Gallatin passed away Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at Cameron Regional Medical Center. A celebration of life will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Family visitation will be held immediately following the service. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin Senior Citizens Center in care of the funeral home.

Tom Cummings was an icon in the boxing world. He began his career in boxing in 1973 when he established the Gallatin boxing club where he produced many Golden Gloves Champions and was a world renowned trainer who also managed pro-fighters. Tom lived and breathed boxing and was an inspiration to many. His knowledge and passion for the sport was apparent in his training method, he was a motivator who inspired his students to do their best.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Blanche Cummings, his daughter Lori Neal in 2006, and his brother Charles Cummings.

Survivors wife Anna (Foster) Cummings of the home; sons, Craig Cummings and wife Gina of Kansas City, Mo., Dennis Cummings and wife Deann of Gallatin, Mo., daughter, Tammy Robertson, Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Dicky Shaw, brother, Everett Davis, both of Henrietta, Texas; grandchildren, Halstin and Caden Cummings, Blake and Wendi Robertson, Calen and Christen Cummings, Sheena Slack, Nathan and Landon Neal; great grandchildren, Cason Robertson and Morgan Lindsey.
