The Tri-County Board of Education allocated $7,500 for the purchase of computers for the high school at their monthly meeting for February.
The board also accepted a proposal from Quality Network Systems of Macon for computer technology support. The superintendent was directed to work out details for QNS to review the present technology and give recommendations for improvements.
Under old business, the board heard a report regarding an FFC license renewal. No action was taken. The board approved the MSBA policy updates. The board heard a report about facility updates. A meeting of the facility committee will be held within the next few weeks regarding potential building improvements.
In new business, the board reviewed the information from the advanced questionnaires given in November as part of the school’s MSIP review. No action was taken.
Approval was given to calendar changes due to the recent storms. Tri-County was in session on Feb. 21. School will be in session a full day on March 17 and have an early release on March 18. School will also be in session a full day on March 24 and an early release on March 25 with parent-teacher conferences to follow.
The board approved to allow the Junior class to sponsor a five-on-five basketball tournament in April and supper before an elementary basketball game to raise money for prom expenses.
The board heard a presentation by Megen Ellis on child abuse as part of her FCCLA STAR events program.
The monthly budget review took place but the board took no action.
After an executive session, the board voted to offer principal Andrew Gaddis a contract for the 2011-12 school year, with salary to be determined at a later date.
The next meeting of the Tri-County school board is scheduled for March 10.
