Virgil Walter Brown, 90, Jamesport, Mo., passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 at the Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kan.

He was born Feb. 17, 1920 in Jamesport, Mo., the son of William Walter and Lula Pearl (Baker) Brown.

On April 19, 1961, he married Joyce Watkins in Jamesport, Mo. She preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 2001. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Roger Neil Brown; two sisters, Lola Mae Scott and Carrie Speights; and three brothers, Woodrow, Ferris, and Charles Herbert Brown.

Virgil was a farmer near the Jamesport Community. He had served several years on the Tri-County School Board of Jamesport. He was a member of the Pilot Grove #1 Baptist Church, Gilman City, Mo.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Alden and her husband, Paul, Gilman City; one sister, Mary Hudson, Brookfield.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at the Pilot Grove #1 Baptist Church, Gilman City. Burial in Masonic Cemetery, Jamesport. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 Thursday at the Pilot Grove # 1 Baptist Church, Gilman City. Friends may call after 2 Wednesday at the Roberson Funeral Home, Gilman City.
