The Gallatin Board of Aldermen decided that opening the city pool will be contingent upon finding a suitable qualified pool manager. Accordingly, the board agreed to take applications for pool manager. Applications will be accepted until March 11.

In other business at the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held Feb. 14, Police Chief Mark Richards submitted a report on activity from Jan. 24 to Feb. 14. The following reports were taken and tickets given: one lock out; one accident; two lost or stolen purse; one runaway juvenile recovery; five notices for snow route violations; seven dogs at large; one missing person; one property damage. Four dogs in the pound.

Chief Richards stated that he only has a couple of weeks left in DARE for this year and the police department will be participating in the Youth Seat Belt Enforcement Campaign coming up March 15-31. Chief Richards also stated that he received the check for his Block Grant to purchase a patrol vehicle and is looking at a 2008 Chevy Impala to purchase.

Bills in the mount of $182,885.66 were approved for payment.

City Administrator Zac Johnson stated that the jet truck has finally been fixed and is back in service. He will be attending a meeting this Thursday with USDA regarding the new water plant project.

Discussion was held on the mutual aid agreement.

The board removed James Owings and Greg Lollar from the Dockery Park Board due to un-excused absenteeism.

Discussion was held on police department personnel and the budget.

Johnson stated that he is waiting for a price quote for the re-codification of the code book. He also discussed the Great North West Water Committee (GNWWC) meeting he attended last week and the sewer lift station preventative maintenance program results.

Johnson commented that the rear end will need to be replaced on the backhoe. Estimated cost is approximately $15,000.

Comments by aldermen were made regarding the scrap from the old generator in the power plant.

The board entered into closed session pursuant to legal actions and litigation and hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting employees.
