"An outstanding opportunity has presented itself," Shirley Marriott, president of the Chillicothe Area Arts Council, announced recently.
"On Feb. 17, a few days before the St. Joseph Symphony’s Chamber Orchestra performs in Chillicothe, the symphony’s music director and conductor, Rico McNeela, will give a cultural luncheon program for the Chillicothe Area Arts Council. The cultural luncheon will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the Alaska House in downtown Chillicothe. Lunch will be served at noon and McNeela’s program will begin at 12:25.
McNeela will talk about chamber and symphonic music and speak specifically about the music of Arensky, Ponchielli and Piazzola because works by these composers will be presented in Chillicothe when the St. Joseph Chamber Orchestra performs on Sunday, Feb. 20.
"We are thrilled to have Mr. McNeela do a luncheon program for us," Marriott said. "It gives us all a chance to learn more about classical music and to learn more about the uniqueness of the composers’ music that his chamber group will perform in Chillicothe on the 20th."
The catered lunch will cost $5, and the program is free. A person does not have to buy lunch to attend the program. Those wanting lunch must make a reservation by calling the arts office at
646-1173, or by e-mailing the arts office at [email protected] The deadline for lunch reservations is at noon, Tuesday, Feb. 15.
