James Lewis, bridge supervisor, reported that they are continuing to make equipment repairs and cutting wood for the furnace at the barn.

Notification was received from Missouri Department of Transportation of the approval of the contract for construction on BRO project 31, bridge number 56500201 over Hickory Creek. The pre-construction hearing with Decker Construction Services and the engineering firm will be held Feb. 7 at 10 a.m.

Gary Holcomb, Marion Township board member, met with the commission regarding the CART mileage in that township.

Bills were audited and paid.

Bob Gray, regional jail administrator, met with the commission answering questions regarding procedures at that facility.

The commission reviewed the FEMA project reports finding that the county has received the final payment; making the 75% FEMA share total received $123,192.77 for all the projects from the 2010 disaster.

Cliff King met with the commission regarding the installation of a tube in Jefferson Township.

Notification was received that the county commissioners training conference scheduled for Feb. 2-4 has been postponed due to the weather forecast.

Mark Richards, City of Gallatin, met with the commission regarding preparations for the storm forecasted for this week. The generators will be prepared for operation at the high school.

Lance Rains, Green Hills Regional Planning Commission, met with the commission reporting on Local Emergency Planning and Community Development Block grants.

Clay Porter, maintenance, met with the commission concerning needed repairs to the courthouse. The commission will find a contractor to make plaster repairs.

Sheriff’s Office

On Jan. 31, Jesse Allen Morris Jr. of Winston reported a burglary at his residence. The door had been pried open, and items had been taken from his basement bedroom. A flat screen TV and two speakers were taken, with value set at over $600.

Kelly Parker, 37, Jameson was arrested Feb. 1 on a probation and parole warrant on an original charge of non-support. Bond was denied.

Jeffrey Knorr, 34, Independence, was arrested Jan. 27 for driving while revoked, class A misdemeanor. He posted $700 bond.

Patrisha Wyatt, 24, Hamilton, was arrested Jan. 28 for misdemeanor passing bad checks. She posted $200 bond.

Circuit Court

Jennifer Hoppenthaler of Winston started duties Feb. 1 as deputy circuit clerk. She and her husband Jeff have one son, Jordan. Her parents are Ted and Barbara Caldwell.

Cases bound over from Associate Division to Circuit Court: State vs. Wanda Petrie, Cowgill, passing bad checks, five felony counts and one misdemeanor count; State vs. Penny Sue Whitt, Jamesport, abuse of child, class C felony, assault on law enforcement officer, class A misdemeanor; State vs. Drew M. McCall, Jamesport, stealing motor vehicle, class C felony; State vs. Ernest W. Rash, DWI, alcohol, aggravated offender, class C felony, drinking alcoholic beverage while driving, infraction, and failure to drive within right lane, class C misdemeanor.

Civil cases filed: James Leslie Gilreath vs. Paula Jean Gilreath, dissolution of marriage; Discover Bank, New Albany OH, vs. James C. Rogers, register foreign judgment.

Associate Court

The following are traffic cases which were heard in the Circuit Court of Daviess County involving a plea of guilty without contest and payment by mail of the standard fine plus court costs. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside outside of Missouri was $934.50 for 15 cases. Total fines assessed for defendants who reside in Missouri was $107 for four cases. Court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $58.50 for moving traffic violations. Missouri defendants, offenses and fines are listed below:
Speeding: Jennifer J Belew, Coffey, $28.50; Kayla R. Boswell, $58.50.

No seat belt: James I. Cox, St. Joseph, $10; Natalie Burton, Kansas City, $10.
