Sterling Steele is planning to build a marquee sign for the Gallatin school as his Eagle Scout project.

Sterling, a senior, is hoping GHS alumni, the community, and all school supporters will help him financially with this undertaking.
The school sign is the first impression a visitor to the Gallatin School District receives. But beyond a warm welcome, an outdoor sign reflects a school’s character and spirit. Strong and sturdy, clear and bright, that’s the message the new sign will convey.
Sterling wants to install the sign in close proximity to where the previous sign was. That sign was accidently destroyed by city crews when they were replacing the hydrant for the water line. City Administrator Zac Johnson said the city would be happy to contribute toward the new sign.
Sterling has several sample models from Stewart School Signs to choose from: top of the line LED (light emitting diodes) sign, approximately $18,000; LED sign with tri-color digital lettering, approximately $14,000; manual changeable letter sign, approximately $8,000; simple marquee sign, approximately $2,500.
All signs are double sided and made of tough Makrolon material.
Top business donators and individual contributors will be recognized with a permanent logo on the base of the sign.
Sterling will be selling chocolate bars and gourmet lolly pops at home games in order to help raise funds. All of the proceeds will go toward the sign.
A graduating senior, Sterling needs to have the funds raised and the sign built before the end of this school year.
Sterling has been a club scout since he was eight-years-old and a boy scout since he was 11. He is the son of Colette and Michael Steele of Gallatin.
