The Green Hills Resource Conservation and Development Council will be sponsoring stream management workshops featuring Dave Derrick, a nationally recognized stream flow and restoration design expert.
The free workshops are open to anyone. Lunch will be provided for attendees. RSVP must be made by Friday, Feb.11.
The "Understanding Streams" workshop is designed for landowners, ag producers, land planners, local officials and decision-makers, in addition to agency staff who work in or around streams. Attendees should expect to gain a basic understanding of the dynamics of stream water flow and explore proven techniques to mitigate large scale stream bank erosion and channel migration near bridges, roads, buildings, and farm fields. These workshops present a unique opportunity for local units of government and land managers to gain insight which can save long term financial outlays for expensive infrastructure repairs.
For your convenience, choose any date and location of one of the three identical workshops: Wednesday, Feb. 16, 8am-5pm, Grand River Inn, Chillicothe; Thursday, Feb. 17, 8am-5pm, Milan Community Building, Milan; Friday, Feb. 18, 8am-5pm, Bethany Community Center, Bethany.
Workshops will begin promptly at 8am. Please arrive early for sign-in and seating.
