Fred Bragg, 63, Rock Island, Ill., was fatally injured in accident that happened at about 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 7, in Daviess County.

According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Bragg was southbound on I-35 at the 80 mile marker, three miles north of Pattonsburg. The 2009 International tractor trailer he was driving went off of the right side of the roadway and struck the embankment. The semi came to rest on its wheels facing south. Bragg was pronounced dead at Harrison County Community Hospital by Dr. Charles Sciolaro.

A passenger, Douglas Heradon, 35, Kewanee, Ill., received minor injuries. He was taken by Harrison County Ambulance to Harrison County Community Hospital.

The accident was investigated by Tpr. K.L. Carroll, Sgt. H.A. Sears, and Sgt. M.A. Coll, assisted by Sgt. M.A. Ott, and the Pattonsburg Fire Department.

Mother and son from Kidder injured when vehicle hit from behind

Christopher Shirk, 21, and his mother, Teresa Shirk, 40, both of Kidder, received minor injuries in an accident at about 6:16 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 9, five miles east of Cameron in Caldwell County.

According to the highway patrol, Christopher Shirk was eastbound on Hwy. 36 in a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire and was slowing to make a right turn onto Route D when his vehicle was hit from behind by a 1999 Jeep Cherokee driven by Sterling Ellsworth, 20, of Edmond, Okla.

The Shirks, who were wearing their seat belts, were taken by Caldwell County EMS to Cameron Regional Medical Center.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

The accident was investigated by Tpr. J.R. Zach, assisted by Cpl. J.P. Angle, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and Caldwell County First Responders.

Pattonsburg woman injured, car catches fire

Eva Poole, 21, Pattonsburg, was moderately injured in an accident that happened at 10:50 p.m. on Jan. 9 in DeKalb County.

Poole was northbound on Route D about five miles northwest of Santa Rosa in a 2002 Pontiac. She lost control on a hill and curve. The vehicle crossed the center line and went off the west side of the roadway and overturned into a field. The Pontiac came to rest on its side against a large hay bale and caught fire.

Poole was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by DeKalb-Clinton Ambulance. It is unknown if she was wearing her seat belt.

The vehicle was totaled.

The accident was investigated by Sgt. M.A. Ott, assisted by DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department and DeKalb Fire.
