A Pattonsburg man received minor injuries when he was a passenger in a car involved in an accident at 11:25 a.m. on Jan. 1, four miles south of Bethany.

According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2002 Mazda driven by Jorge Garay, 33, Topeka, Kan., was northbound on an exit ramp from I-35 at the 88 mile marker. He failed to stop for the stop sign at Hwy. 13. A 2003 Chevrolet driven by Delbert Virtue, 23, of Pattonsburg was southbound on Hwy. 13 and struck the Garay vehicle in the driver’s side. Both vehicles came to rest in the middle of the intersection.

Donald Rice, 26, Pattonsburg, an occupant in Virtue’s Chevrolet, was taken by NTA Ambulance to Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany. He was not wearing his seat belt.

The accident was investigated by Trp. B.L. Israel, assisted by Trp. B.R. Hilliard, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and the Bethany Police Department.
