Margaret Louise Plummer Christopher, 81, of rural Jamesport, was born April 9, 1929, and passed away Dec, 29, 2010, at her home surrounded by family and under the care of Wright Memorial Hospital Hospice.
Margaret was adopted as an infant by Lewin Francis and Marie (Trimble) Plummer. She grew up south of Brown corner southwest of Gallatin and later moved to a farm south of Jamesport. She attended rural schools and graduated from Jamesport High School in 1947.
She was united in marriage to James Edgar Christopher on June 8, 1947 at the Gallatin First Christian Church following his return from service in the Army Air Corp during World War II in the pacific.
They spent their first two years of marriage operating a dairy and delivering milk in the Bethany area for Ora and Nina Cassidy (Jim’s sister). They later moved to rural Livingston County near Margaret’s parents’ home. In Feb. 1949, their first daughter, Karen Jean was born at her parents’ farm home. In the spring of 1950 they purchased a farm west of Jamesport and their second daughter, Linda Marie was born in July of 1951.
In 1952 Margaret met her biological brother Richard Moore in 1952 only a few months after finding out that she had been adopted. In 1992 another sister, Delores Campbell, who resided in Yakima, Wash., was discovered. Two other brothers and one sister were never found.
Margaret loved being outdoors where she was a large part of their farming operation. Her hobbies included gardening, woodworking and fishing. James and Margaret were both members of the Jamesport United Methodist Church. Margaret was also an active member of the Jamesport VFW Auxiliary and Jamesport Saddle Club. During high school she was an outstanding softball pitcher.
For the past several years her lung disease has limited her outdoor activity and she has relied heavily on her "phone" buddies". She loved attending activities for her grandchildren and visits from her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Max) Shuler of Trenton, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; her brother, Richard Moore of Brunswick and a host of nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Lewin and Marie Plummer; husband, James; daughter, Linda and sister, Delores.
