Gallatin wrestlers opened the 2011 portion of their schedule on Tuesday with a trip to Maryville for multiple dual competition. Though they didn’t have the overall strength to win a head-to-head team competition, the Bulldogs were able to find individual success over the course of the evening.

Peter Steele at 145, Jimmy Dale at 215 and Myrick McLey at 275 each pinned opponents in a 33-18 loss to Plattsburg. Sterling Steele, 135, grabbed Gallatin’s lone victory by pin against Robby Moore of Hamilton as the Hornets overpowered the Bulldogs, 48-6.
Sterling and Peter Steele pinned Maryville opponents, as well. Dale and McLey earned wins by forfeit. Maryville won the team matchup, 42-24.
Gallatin wrestlers travel to Marshall on Saturday for tournament action. The Bulldogs will take on Polo, Maysville and South Holt next Tuesday at Polo High School.
