Gallatin’s Lady Bulldogs combined an effective full court press with a solid half court game that kicked off 2011 with a 58-28 victory over Pattonsburg on Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs polished off the first quarter with a 10-0 run that pushed their lead to 16-6. A 7-0 surge at the end of the first half upped the ante to 28-12 at the break.

Tory Wood led a balanced scoring slate for Gallatin with 15 points. Kailey Elbert added 10 for the winners. Becca Mott and Kaitlyn Hefley each added eight for the Lady Bulldogs, who upped their record to 3-5 overall.

Sarah Emerson led Pattonsburg with 15 points. Morgan Gardner added eight for the Lady Panthers.

The Lady Bulldogs look to build on their success at home on Friday as they open their Grand River Conference schedule against winless Worth County. Gallatin’s girls will tip off in the opening round of the Lawson Tournament next Monday at 7:30 p.m. against second-seeded Lawson.
