Three family members from Gallatin were injured in an accident that happened at about 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, in DeKalb County, one-half mile west of M-33 South and two miles west of Osborn.
Daniel Pierce, 22, was eastbound on Hwy. 36 in a 1996 Jeep when he lost control on the snow covered roadway. The vehicle slid into the median and vaulted a crossover, then struck the ground on the east side of the crossover. The Jeep came to rest in the median on its wheels facing east.
Two passengers, Paul Pierce, 52, and Terry Pierce, 52, received moderate injuries. Daniel received minor injuries. They were taken by DeKalb-Clinton Ambulance to Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph. All three occupants were wearing their seatbelts.
The Jeep received extensive damage.
The accident was investigated by Sgt. M. Ott, assisted by DeKalb County Sheriff and Osborn Fire.
Semi hits car from behind, causes accident
An Iowa man received moderate injuries in an accident that happened about three miles north of Pattonsburg.
According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Harold Green, 78, Lamoni, Iowa, was southbound on I-35 at about 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15. His vehicle, a 1994 Volvo, was struck from behind by a 2000 Freightliner being driven by Ronald Westfield, 60, Markeson, Wis. Green’s vehicle came to rest facing south on the west side of I-35. The semi came to a controlled stop facing south on the shoulder of I-35.
Mr. Green was wearing his seat belt. He was taken by NTA Ambulance to Harrison County Hospital in Bethany.
The Volvo was totaled. The Freightliner was extensively damaged.
The accident was investigated by Cpl. L.M. Newman, assisted by Tpr. T.B. Heintz, Tpr. M.L. Starmer and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
Altamont woman injured when jeep rolls over
Peggy Love, 53, Altamont, received moderate injuries and was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by Daviess County Ambulance after an accident at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16.
Love was westbound on Hwy. 69 about a mile west of Winston driving a 1996 Jeep. She lost control on the ice covered roadway and the jeep went off the south side of the road. It went through a fence, overturned several times, and came to rest on its wheels.
Love was not wearing her seat belt.
The jeep was totaled.
The accident was investigated by Cpl. L.M. Newman.
