An ad will be placed for three positions up for election on the Pattonsburg Board of Aldermen. Filing dates for the election in April are Dec. 14 through Jan. 18. Terms are up for westward alderman Robert Sweiger and eastward alderman Lonnie Luke and mayor Gene Walker.
In other business at the meeting of the Pattonsburg Board of Aldermen held Nov. 17, Daviess County Sheriff Ben Becerra was present to give a progress report on the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail since the three inmates escaped in October. The sheriff said the gates are being kept closed at all times; the guard shack is being manned; perimeter checks are being done twice a day; and manpower is being increased.
A citizen told the board that water does not drain from a ditch at 201 First Street. Water Superintendent Eddy Meador talked to the neighbor north of the address and learned the tube was damaged during snow removal. In order to fix the problem the road tube to the north of the address will have to be replaced, which the board agreed to do.
Meador informed the council that the CL17 analyzer at the water plant needs to be replaced. The board carried a motion to get a new one.
Gene Walker reported to the council on a meeting he attended on Nov. 16 with the municipal courts committee.
City employees will be given a $100 gift card.
Bills were paid as presented.
Economic Developer Richard Mooney explained that "National Lemonade Day" was not a free event as he supposed and that Pattonsburg would, therefore, not be participating.
Mooney discussed the USDA revolving loan program with the board.
Maintenance work needing to be done to the "headwear" building to restore it to operational condition has been completed. The building has been cleaned and sanitized floor to ceiling, water and sewer lines have been checked for leaks, a new water meter has been installed, stained and damaged ceiling tiles have been replaced, natural gas lines are hooked up, heating units have been converted and tested. A few minor details, including a couple of roof units needing repaired, remain to be attended to. The city still owns the building and has not yet found new occupants.
The above are from the unapproved minutes of the Nov. 17 meeting. Those in attendance were Mayor Gene Walker; aldermen, Leonard Barr, Lonnie Luke and Robert Sweiger; Water Superintendent Eddy Meador; City Clerk Karen Shepherd; and Economic Developer Richard Mooney. Also in attendance were Daviess County Sheriff Ben Becerra; and newly elected Daviess County Commissioner Randy Sims.
