Most herbicides on the market today are new combinations of older products. The pipeline of new chemistries has dried up because of low margins from years ago and generics moving into the marketplace.

As far as corn herbicides, new products are Capreno, Prequel, TripleFLEX, Verdict and Warrant. There are others names which may be generics that are being marketed under different names.

Looking at soybeans, new products include Authority XL, Fierce, Verdict and Warrant. Many times there are changes in labels as far as application timing and use.

The research results of these different products are located on MU’s Weed Science Website located at http://weedscience.missouri.edu. This is very useful in determining the effectiveness of herbicides in controlling different weed species.
