Jack Huffman, rural Jamesport, pictured, is one of thousands who visited the Vietnam Wall at Pink Hill Park in Blue Springs early in October. The Wall That Heals is a replica of the memorial wall in Washington and included a traveling museum and information center. Every Vietnam War veteran who visited received a commemorative medal or lapel pin.

PFC Jack Huffman served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne division 1966-1967. He was a frequent contributor to the Gallatin North Missourian as his letters to his family back home (mom, dad and 11 brothers and sisters) were published in the paper. The letters offered a few details of the life of a soldier in an embattled far away land. Jack is the son of the late Perley and Minnie Huffman.
