Missouri Western State University awarded Jimmie R. Nix Scholarship to Jeff Parton, junior criminal justice major of Pattonsburg, for the 2010-2011 academic year.
The Jimmie R. Nix Scholarship is awarded to a degree-seeking criminal justice major with an emphasis in law enforcement. Recipient must be a junior or senior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference is given to current law enforcement officers (not private security).
Last year, Western committed more than $6.3 million of university funds to student scholarships. Additionally, the MWSU Foundation awarded scholarships totaling more than $656,000 to 680 students.
