The Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail had a count of 78 in-county prisoners — 23 from Daviess and 55 from DeKalb — and 75 prisoners from out of county.

During the meeting of the board members on Sept. 24, Jail Administrator Larry Hadley was given permission to review bids and choose the inmate phone system he prefers.

The board discussed the unmanned guard shack and the gates remaining open at the jail. At present there is no employee who can be spared to man the tower.

The board continued to discuss the possibility of county deputies being hired by the jail.

The jail picked up several inmates from Skyler and Sullivan counties.

A principle payment was made toward the bond of $446,010.

Income sales tax revenue for September was $97,591.05.

The jail’s ending balance for September was $19,931.77.The aging report showed $60,150 still owed the jail. The commissary grossed $13,692.06 and Swanson’s income was $125.42.

The board held a meeting on Aug. 27. Sales tax income was $56,241.13 for August. Year to date was $475,050.12. Checking account has $234,999.23 in the account with a six month CD for $800,000 and a six month CD for $479,593.18 and $403,867.95 at BTC Bank. Total sales tax is $1,918,460.36.

The jail’s operating account balance is $56,983.52. The commissary grossed $16,365.92. Swanson income was $95.30. Since Jan. 1, 2010, the jail is reported to have saved $202,950 on inmate housing for Daviess, and $366,270 for DeKalb.

The jail is still having problems with getting its roof repaired. The board decided to contact the company directly since they are having no luck with the contractor.

Conversant Technologies, Inc. presented a bid on an inmate phone system.
