The Missouri Department of Conservation will sponsor a hunter education class from 6-9:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, and from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Dockery Park building in Gallatin.

Students must attend both sessions to be certified. A minimum of 10 students is required for the class to be held. Hunter education certification is limited to persons 11 years of age and older.

Students under 16 must bring proof of age to class. Seating is limited; therefore, each student must pre-register by calling the Missouri Department of Conservation office in Chillicothe at 660-646-6122. The class is free of charge.

Missouri law requires all persons born on or after Jan. 1, 1967, to have an approved hunter safety certification card which they must display to permit vendors before they can purchase any type of firearm hunting permit.
