District auditor Kevin Hudson presented a favorable report on the finances of the Gallatin R-5 School District. His report was accepted with one minor correction.

The high school passed in all areas of the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) report, while the elementary school and the district as a whole did not. The Gallatin R-5 Board of Education discussed how to improve scores, especially in the area of communications arts, during their meeting held Thursday, Sept. 16.

The Annual Performance Report (APR) will be presented in November. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education updated its preliminary report to reflect the school meeting 14 out of 14 standards on the APR.

Billy McLey was offered the elementary custodial day position.

A work agreement was offered to Brenda Stinson for direction of the school play.

Tuition waivers were approved for the following out of district students: Courtney Hunt, Marissa McNeely, Mattie Burge, Bailey Bozarth, Beau Johnson, Ally Johnson, Dillan Grey, Graven Gray, Brayden Walker, Cloey Waterbury, Owen Waterbury, Cali Prentice, Savannah Testi, Jason Chadwick, Marissa Byrom, Matana Byrom, Nathan Baker, Peyton Baker and Rebecca Fisher.

The special education compliance standards were approved.

The board discussed personnel and student issues during executive session.
