Margaret Boyer, 97, formerly of the Gallatin and Pattonsburg areas, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at Quail Run Nursing Home in Cameron.

Graveside services for Margaret Boyer were held Monday, Sept. 13, at Hopewell Cemetery near Weatherby. Arrangements were by McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin Senior Citizens Center in care of the funeral home.
Margaret was born April 25, 1913, to George S. D. and Anna Lou (Rice) Roberts at the farm home in rural DeKalb County. She graduated from Maysville High School May 15, 1931, and attended Maryville State Teacher’s College.
Margaret began her teaching career at the Oak Grove Country School grades first through eighth and later taught at Fairport.
On Sept. 8, 1937, Margaret was united in marriage to Philip Boyer in Gallatin. The couple made their home on a farm near Pattonsburg where Margaret taught at the Pattonsburg School until she retired to stay at home and help Phil on the farm. The couple later sold the farm and moved to Gallatin.
Margaret was a devoted member of the Gallatin Baptist Church.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Phil on Jan.15, 1992, sisters, Ida Groomer, Effie Dice, Inez Balley, Elnora Owen, Lowell Thompson and two infant sisters; brothers, Issac, Farris, Kirk and Clifton Roberts.
Survivors include her nieces, Colleen Hightree of Jameson, Marcia Shrout of St. Joseph, Virginia Webb of Oceanside Calif., Norma Kenney of Higginsville, Doris Bryant of Hamilton, and Roberta Maddock of Maysville, nephews, George Roberts of Phoenix Ariz., and John Roberts of Pattonsburg; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
