Donald King, 37, Gallatin, was arrested at 12:54 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, in Daviess County, for careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident, and driving while intoxicated. He was placed on 12 hour hold at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail.
Mr. King received minor injuries in the accident which happened at about 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, a half mile west of Altamont.
According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Mr. King was traveling westbound on Hwy. 6 in a 1993 Ford. Eric Critten, 34, Gallatin, was driving eastbound in a 2007 Dodge.
Mr. King’s vehicle traveled across the center line and struck Mr. Critten’s Dodge on the driver’s side and then struck his towed unit.
Mr. King’s vehicle continued west a short distance, traveled off the south side of Hwy. 6, drove through a fence, and came to rest on its wheels in a field. Mr. Critten’s vehicle came to a controlled stop on Hwy. 6.
Mr. King refused treatment at the scene and would seek it later.
The accident was investigated by Tpr. A.K. Griffin, assisted by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, KAW First Responders, and the Daviess County Ambulance.
