James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, reported that they will be working in Harrison Township on a low water crossing again this week. There was a delay due to rainfall last week, concrete will be delivered tomorrow.

The commission reviewed the monthly treasurer’s report, and bills were audited and paid.

Georgia Maxwell, Recorder of Deeds, notified the commission of requesting the annual reimbursement from the state, allowed when the office was separated from the Circuit Clerk’s office.

Shad Mort met with the commission regarding an abandoned cemetery in Sheridan Township. The commission knew of no trustee or board members for Wooderson Cemetery.

Clyde Bozarth, Marion Township, met with the commission concerning a drainage problem in that township.

Brett Clem, Blue Sky Restoration Contractors, Inc., met with the commission regarding the air quality at the building at 611 West Johnson. Remediation is complete and the building passed all air quality tests. The insurance company was contacted for payment directly to Blue Sky.

Becky Simpson, Extension Council, met with the commission reporting that Extension Week is next week and demonstrations will be held in the courthouse.

In the afternoon, the commission inspected brush in Benton Township and a bridge in Jefferson Township that had collapsed into the creek over the weekend. The 50-foot bridge (2830029) was posted with a 5-ton weight limit and had been inspected by Missouri Department of Transportation earlier this year. The site, located on 105th Street north of Pepper Avenue, was inspected. The bridge was barricaded and will remain closed until it can be replaced. The bridge closing was posted at the intersections on the north and south of the bridge. Central Dispatch was notified. Sheriff Ben Becerra met with the commission regarding this accident.

The commission was contacted by a FEMA representative scheduling a kickoff meeting of the June flooding repairs for 9 a.m. Friday, September 10th, at the courthouse. This meeting will include the County and all other political sub-divisions intending to submit reimbursement requests to FEMA, following the preliminary "enrollment" meetings held last week.

Circuit Court

Cases bound over from the Associate Division to Circuit Court: State vs. Joseph R. Vassallo, Jamesport, three counts of failure to register as sex offender, class D felonies; State vs. Eddy W. Meador, Pattonsburg, three counts statutory sodomy second degree, class C felony, supplying liquor to a minor and furnishing pornographic material to a minor, both misdemeanors; State vs. Travis W. Evans, Osborn, escape or attempted escape from confinement and damage to jail property, both class D felonies.

Civil cases filed: Tommy Ray Hogan vs. Amy Kristine Hogan, dissolution of marriage. A transcript judgment was filed by LIRC, Division of Employment Security, against Daniel Froman.

Associate Division

The following are traffic cases which were heard in the Circuit Court of Daviess County involving a plea of guilty without contest and payment by mail of the standard fine plus court costs. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside outside of Missouri was $1,606 for 18 cases. Total fines assessed for defendants who reside in Missouri was $2,070.50 for 32 cases. Court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $58.50 for moving traffic violations. Missouri defendants, offenses and fines are listed below:

Chase Bankcard Service Inc. Vs. Gary Hornek and chase Bank USA vs. Gary E. Horinek were both dismissed by the parties.

Sheriff’s Office

Isaace Smith, 37, Coffey, was arrested Sept. 4 for peace disturbance. He was processed and held for 24 hours. A summons was issued.

Christian Bogle, 20, St. Louis, was arrested Sept. 4 on a St. Joseph Police Department warrant for disorderly conduct, misdemeanor. He posted $80 bond.

Nataly Wol, 42, St. Joseph, was arrested Sept. 5 for misdemeanor DWI. She was processed and held for 12 hours. A summons was issued.
