County Commission
James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, reported that they will be working in Harrison Township on a low water crossing again this week. Concrete will be delivered tomorrow.
Bills were audited and paid.
Notification was received from Missouri Transportation Department of a transfer of Soft Match Credit funds in the amount of $200,000 from Audrain County. In return, $100,000 was transferred from Daviess County BRO funds to Audrain County.
Due to the Labor Day holiday, the commission will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 7 next week.
Dick McClure, Jefferson Township landowner, met with the commission regarding access to his property in section 14. Brush removal letters will be sent to landowners along the township road.
Zac Johnson, Gallatin City Administrator, met with the Commission regarding a mutual aid agreement between the city and county for law enforcement services. This agreement would be for emergency law enforcement needs and would be the responsibility of the sheriff.
Phil Showalter, Lock Springs Special Road District, met with the commission regarding State Emergency Management Agency funds.
Jack Dowell, Union Township, met with the commission regarding his property taxes. No action was taken.
Mr. Read, Salem Township, met with the commission concerning a land-locked property. He was referred to the prosecuting attorney.
In the afternoon the commission attended a mandatory meeting in Cameron for all political subdivisions with the State Emergency Management Agency. This was for instructions for FEMA assistance with damages from spring rains.
At 3 p.m., as advertised, the public hearing for setting of the 2010 property tax rate was held. No one from the public attended. David Cox moved to leave the general revenue tax levy at $0.12 per $100 valuation, the Senior Services tax at $0.05; and the County Disabilities tax at $0.08. Danny Heldenbrand seconded. Cox – yes; Heldenbrand – yes; Critten – yes.
Ben Becerra, sheriff, and Todd Watson, deputy, met with the Commission regarding a leak in the roof at the storage facility, overtime compensation and cooperative agreements.

Sheriff’s Office
David Ayers of Winston reported Aug. 22 that a burglary had occurred at his property on Vow Avenue. Various tools and items valued at over $3,000 had been stolen from his machine shed some time between Aug. 18 and Aug. 22.
Phillip Wood, 28, Kansas City, was arrested Aug. 26 for felony no valid license, speeding and no seat belt. He is being held on $15,000 bond.
Daniel Tompkins, 40, Pompano, Fla., was arrested Aug. 26 for a parole violation on a warrant from the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Bond was denied, and he was returned to Minnesota.
Joseph Crowder, 20, Independence, was charged Aug. 29 with minor in possession of intoxicants. A summons was issued. He was processed and held for 12-hours detoxification.
Christopher Henley, 21, Independence, was charged Aug. 29 with misdemeanor DWI. He was issued a summons, processed and held for 12-hours detoxification.
Dehanna Clark, 37, Kansas City, was arrested Aug. 27 for failure to appear on a misdemeanor warrant for DWI and driving while revoked. She is being held on $2,000 bond.
Antoinette Spence, 33, Breckenridge, was arrested Aug. 29 for misdemeanor no valid license. She is being held on $300 bond.
Circuit Court
On Aug. 24 before Judge Daniel Chadwick, a petition for a name change was granted. The change is from Lois Jean Comstock to Lois Jean Petree Vance.
A jury trial for Jana R. Bell was set for Oct. 19. She is charged with arson second degree and burglary second degree.
Civil cases filed: Tia L. Caldwell vs. Lucas J. Caldwell, dissolution of marriage. Certificates of lien, DOR, taxes, were filed by the State against Joseph J. Dowell and against Michael D. Arnold.

Sarah Bell, Gallatin, was charged Aug. 27 with felony passing bad checks.
Civil Court
Breach of contract: Ozark Financial vs. Elizabeth L. Meador was dismissed by the court without prejudice.
Suits on account: Consent judgments were entered for Midwestern Health and against Twailla K. Lawson, for Midwestern Health and against Rondollune J.
