Scripture reading was from I John 5:1-15. Guess speaker this week and next week was Bro. Oliphant. His message was from Matthew 11:28-30 and I Timothy 2:3-5. Mary Immaculate
Father Bob’s message was from Luke 14: 1, 7-14. On Aug. 26 a potluck supper was hosted by Mark and Missy Leggett at their home to plan for next year’s auction. Mary Immaculate held their finance meeting and potluck supper on Aug. 30.
On Sept. 16 at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall, beginning at 6 p.m. Father Bob will host the first gathering of those who are interested in taking the faith journey toward becoming Catholic and member of either Sacred Heart or Mary Immaculate Parish. Fairview Community
Dixie Alexander opened services reciting "The Lord’s Prayer" and reading from Mark 9:38-41. Adult Sunday School studied "A Bold Witness," from Acts 28:16-31. The message was brought by Bro. Davis in song with topics leading our way back to God.
We were blessed with four new baptisms, Dixie and Scott Alexander and Corbin and Cidnee Toney. We celebrated a 5th Sunday luncheon after worship and sing along with First Baptist at Winston. Special prayer requests are for Vern Bridgman, Mary Parkhurst (back home now), Velma Wolf, Lloyd King, Carl Blackburn and Beth Holifield.
Gallatin United Methodist
The message was "Come Up Higher" by Mark Morehouse, from Luke 14:1, 7-14. Gallatin UMC hosted a community prayer service for John Wood Jr., as he travels for more medical help. Hamilton UMC will host a Jason Crabb concert on Aug. 30. Men’s breakfast is at 7 a.m. on Sept. 4.
Prayer concerns: John Wood Jr., Marlene Allen, Tracy Michael, Ray Willis, Dot Mahone, Jim Wright, Tom Cummings, Katherine Wright and Glen Kimberlin.
Pattonsburg Baptist
Matthew 13:44-46 was text for the message completing the series, "Discipleship 101." Wednesday night prayer meeting is at 7:30 p.m. A group will be going from the church to see Chonda Pierce at the Northwest Missouri State Fair in Bethany at 2 p.m. Women’s Book Study begins at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 11.
Workers are needed to continue Worship KidStyle this fall. Please contact Jeremiah if you would like to volunteer. The mission project at VBS this year was boxes for Operation Christmas Child, 20 boxes were sent. The Missouri Missions Offering will be collected during September. Prayer concerns: Jackson Klenk, Peggy Sperry, Tammy Whitt, Joshua Carroll and the family of George Parks.
Gallatin First Baptist
Bro. Marty’s message was "The Way to Heaven," from Matthew 7;13-19. The deacon’s meet Sunday night. Wednesday noon we are taking lunch to the Baptist Student Union at Trenton college. Wednesday night is the AWANA "kick-off" from 6-7 p.m. This is a meet, greet, registration and information session. There will also be a meal for children and families. All workers for the coming year are asked to attend.
Keenagers will meet Thursday for the monthly noon luncheon. Sept. 5 our church will lead the 2 p.m. worship service at Daviess County Nursing and Rehab Center. There will be no evening worship services on Sept. 5.
Jameson Baptist
Bro. Andy Lynn’s message was "In Corinth, Part Two." Scripture was Acts 18:11-18. N.G.R. annual meeting is from 9-5 on Sept. 11 at Trenton First, noon meal is provided. Mean’s prayer breakfast is at Laredo on Sept. 18. Our church will hold services at the nursing home in Gallatin on Sept. 26. Associational fish fry is at 6 p.m. on Oct. 9 at Tenth Street, bring a salad or dessert.
Prayer needs: Vicki Wheeler, Sonna Walker, Ray Carder, Margaret Meseberg, Marvin and Linda Landes. Sympathy is extended to the family of Nellie Osborn.
Altamont United Methodist
We welcomed Charles Richardson for our worship services. Pastor Marilyn’s message was "The Table of God" to go along with Holy Communion. Scripture lesson was from Hebrews 13:1-6, "How to Please God."
We appreciate those who have supplied school supplies to fill backpacks for children. Remember Marlene Allen for prayer needs. She and Charles will be celebrating their 55th anniversary on Sept. 4. Our annual ice cream social with Gallatin will be at our church at 6 p.m. on Sept. 5.
