A pair of lopsided victories led to a third-place finish by Gallatin’s softball girls in Saturday’s Albany Tournament.

Gallatin opened tournament play by blasting host Albany, 21-1, behind the pitching of freshman Morgan Horvatin. Following an 18-3 loss to Princeton, the Lady Bulldogs trounced North Harrison, 18-3, in the trophy game with sophomore Celsie Baker earning the victory on the mound.
Compiled stats from the tournament testified to an awakened GHS offense. Kaitlyn McNeely finished 4-for-10 with three runs scored and two driven in. Kirbie Crouse went 3-for-6 with seven runs and three batted in. Horvatin produced three hits in five plate appearances, drove in three and scored four times. Kylie Cameron went 4-for-9 at the dish with three runs scored and three rbi.
Megan Beck scored five runs and drove in three while going 2-for-5. Tory Wood had one hit, an rbi and scored two runs in three tries. Ashley Burns batted 4-for-4 with an rbi and three runs. Kaitlyn Hefley went 4-for-10, scored twice and drove in six runs. Becca Mott was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and one driven in. Marissa McNeely had a hit, rbi and two runs scored. Baker was 2-for-3 with two runs and two rbi.
Gallatin fell to Maysville, 10-0, on Tuesday to fall to 0-1 in Grand River Conference play. Horvatin and Beck each singled in the loss.
